Hanging in the new home of fabulous actress Tasha Smith

Wow, it's been a busy last few months, even though I was under the weather for most of that time. Something crazy is going around—some sort of bronchial something-or-other my doctor said I caught on a plane. I'm better now. I thought I had recovered in time to fly to LA to cover the MTV Awards, but I couldn't get to the red carpet. So, what's the upside to this tale of woe?

Well, while out there in California, I visited Ms. Tasha (Why Did I Get Married? Daddy's Little Girls) Smith. She'd just moved into a beautiful two-story stucco home (I love stucco). It is gorgeous! It has five bedrooms, a kitchen that opens out into the living room, a dining room and lots of bathrooms. Who doesn't like lots of bathrooms? You can pee all over the house. Ooh, the freedom!

Tasha was still settling in, so I had fun helping her and interior designer Nikki Chu lug in and move around furniture, accessories and other objects. Tasha was most excited over the completion of her very sexy, yummy bedroom. It looked so hot, Tasha was screaming, which I guess was prelude to what will happen once the bed is fully occupied, right, Tasha? Hee hee.

After a couple days of toting that barge and lifting that bale, Tasha and I went off to church. I called up one of my cutesy boys, Keith Collins, to come join us. Later that day we shopped for good food because Tasha is a helluva cook. Man! Salmon, pasta, shrimp and desserts. But I wasn't the only one enjoying her food. She invited friends over to eat and watch the MTV Awards with us. Her guests were Casting Director Robi Reed, Tasha's road dog and gospel singer Javen and Chef Deborah Fewell, who feeds Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Deborah is from the Washington, D.C. area. She sometimes cooks for Tasha and other celebrities. I also heard that Deborah just landed on a new reality cooking show. Congrats, honey!

Tasha is interesting because she's a health nut (we had oatmeal for breakfast), but the celebrity set knows her for her culinary magic. Believe it or not, I moved from my bed in the upstairs guest bedroom to break in her brand new chartreuse sofa that night.

Well, before I got on the plane to head home, I took Tasha to meet my girlfriend, designer Angela Dean (deanzign.com) over breakfast. Folks had said that Tasha and Angela could be sisters—both are chocolate, sweet and loud—so they were looking forward to meeting each other. They had a ball laughing, screaming and hugging. Mmmm, I like seeing that.

But when Tasha went by Angela's studio, she couldn't believe the beautiful clothes. She screamedsome more. Since Tasha has an absolutely perfect body, she looked amazing while being draped in gorgeous, precision-sewn dresses. Angela and Tasha were cheesing all over each other. Angela ended up designing the gown that Tasha wore to Tyler Perry's studio opening and she was the belle of the ball.

Before I left California I peeped in on Tasha's acting class. It is no joke. You can't play in there. I even saw Amin Joseph, one of the actors who stars in Zane's Cinemax series "Sex Chronicles." Yes, working actors attend Tasha's classes. She takes no prisoners. One of Tasha's acting techniques is dumping, which means taking an emotional dump. She said some people are emotionally constipated and dumping helps to release the suppressed emotion and exercise the actor's instrument because emotions, feelings and imagination are part of their acting tools. She has different techniques to make you dig up old wounds from your youth to get them out in the open and deal with them. She mentally strips you naked and then begins to clothe you in fearlessness, confidence and selfacceptance. I think it's like bungee jumping; she helps you make the leap to mental freedom. Amazing.
