No delay for Chris’ hearing

After months of dodging his day in court, Chris Brown will have to show up for his preliminary hearing next week.

Yesterday, the California Supreme Court denied his request to delay the hearing in his felony assault case, according to
Rueters. The charges came as the result of his alleged fight Rihanna on February 8.

It’s expected that evidence against Chris will be presented at the hearing scheduled for Monday, June 22. The “Say Goodbye” singer is accused of attacking Rihanna and making criminal threats against her during an early morning fight they had in a car.

Chris’ lawyer, Mark Geragos, wanted access to records of an internal investigation at the Los Angeles Police Department to determine who leaked the infamous pictures of Rihanna’s resulting injuries. He claimed that the photo being leaked to the media would complicate the case against Chris.

Another judge previously denied Mark’s request for information on the leak, stating that it was too soon in the investigation for him to gain access. The state Supreme Court upheld that decision.

Now, Chris is expected to be in court on the day of the hearing; and since Rihanna has been subpoenaed for her testimony, she’ll be taking the stand on Monday. This will be the first time they’ve faced each other in the case.

Chris has pleaded not guilty the felony charges against him, but if convicted, he faces up to four years in prison.
