Jill Scott is talking about the prospect of being a single mother now that she and her fiancé have parted ways.
 
The new mom recently revealed that she and Lil John Roberts have broken up.
 
“John and I are no longer together,” she told Essence.com. “When you have a baby, you're dealing with a lot of emotions. And I don't know how much of it had to do with us breaking up, but it happens. … It is what is.”
 
Jill said that she and her former beau are just working on being good parents to their 2-month-old son, Jett Hamilton Roberts, and on redeveloping a friendship. For now, though, she’s doing the single-mom thing and getting a lot of support from those around her.
 
And Jill said she’s not concerned with what people might think about her essentially raising Jett on her own, either.
 
“I know some might criticize me or the fact that my son is being raised in a single-parent home, but I wasn't raised in a two-parent home and I had a good relationship with my dad,” Jill shared. “I have hopes for him and I'm sure his father will do his part as well.”
