Ludacris conjures a new cognac
Ludacris is coming for that #1 spot...in your liquor cabinet. The enterprising rapper, whose mama named him Chris Bridges, will be releasing a cognac called Conjure this September, reports The Edge.
“I went to Cognac [France] and blended it myself from 14 different samples,” Ludacris told reporters at Vinexpo, a trade show in Bordeaux, France, for the wine and spirits industry. His spirit will first be released in Norway next month before it hits American shelves.
Lest you think this is just another rapper endorsement (remember Diddy's "Pass the Courvoisier" joint?), Luda claims that, "It’s not just me attaching my name to it."
Whenever I involve myself in a business, I submerge myself in it," he continued.
“I wanted to learn as much as possible...It was great. It gave me a new appreciation for cognac.”
Birkedal Hartmann, the Norwegian cognac company that will distribute Conjure, enlisted master blender Philippe Braastad Tiffon who, along with Luda, channeled the wild rapper's personality through more than 40 different brandies.
Ludacris is hoping to sell about a million cases of the drink after the product's release. A bottle of Conjure will set you back about $34.99.
