Kelis and Nas have named and confirmed the newest addition to their family.

"Kelis gave birth to Knight Jones last night on July 22nd around 9 p.m.," one of the singer’s reps wrote in a statement. "Weighing a healthy 7.8 lbs, the beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful."
 
And the statement confirmed reports that Nas wasn’t actually there for the birth of his son, noting that Kelis’ mother and sister were in the New York delivery room with her. However, TMZ.com reports that the rapper was posted outside the room and he was able to see Knight.
 
According to the statement, she went into labor early Monday morning around 2 a.m.  This news is contrary to earlier accounts that the baby had been born on July 21, but in a video time stamped on Tuesday, the rapper announced during a show that his son had already arrived.
 
"My son is born today,” Nas said in the clip posted online Wednesday. "My son's name is Knight. That's what I named the young god, Knight."
 

 
Knight is Kelis’ first child, but the second for Nas, who also has a daughter named Destiny.
