Nas wants an award

Nas isn’t bothered by all the stuff that Kelis has been saying online; he thinks he’d been a great husband and father.

The rapper recently told
Straight.com that he doesn’t see why people really care about the details of his personal life so much lately, but he takes all the attention in stride and he even gets “a good laugh” from some the buzz about him.

One thing he’s not so light-hearted about, though, are claims from his estranged wife Kelis that he’d been unfaithful during their marriage.

“I heard that I was a cheater,” Nas said. “It almost sounds like I was a bad husband. Not to say I was the greatest—I’m not perfect in anything I do—but I think I deserve a f**king trophy. If I do say so myself, without sounding too cocky, I gotta say I was a hell of a husband and a hell of a dad.”

And he intends to continue to earn that title while raising his new son Knight Jones. The baby boy was born late last month after Kelis spent three days in labor.

Unfortunately, Nas wasn’t able to be in the room for Knight’s birth, but he was able to see the baby shortly after he was delivered. Since then, the rapper has been ordered to pay nearly $40,000 a month to Kelis in child and spousal support.
