Naomi Campbell claims designers are dropping Black models because of rough economic times.

 
The model told The Telegraph that Italian Vogue’s Black issue, although a wildly popular edition, hasn’t done much for Black models after its release last year.
 
"That made some noise, but, unfortunately, we are the same as before," she said. "People, in the panic of the recession, don't dare to put a girl of colour in their campaign, full stop. Nor of any other race. It's a shame. It's very sad."
 
Naomi has charged that the fashion industry is racist and she feels that whatever progress has recently been made in regard to race relations hasn’t registered with most designers and clothing companies.
 
"This year, we have gone back all the way that we had advanced," Naomi said . "I don't see any black woman, or of any other race, in big advertising campaigns."
 
That aside, the model was recently prominently featured in ad campaign for Dennis Basso, who is known for designing fur coats, the New York Daily News reports. This flies in the face of her previous appearance in PETA’s famous I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign.
