J. Hud joins VH1 Divas
Jennifer Hudson will be joining this year’s lineup of VH1 Divas.
Jen will perform live alongside fellow divas like Leona Lewis and Adele, but she won’t be the “American Idol” alum on stage: Kellly Clarkson and Jordin Sparks will also be featured divas.
It's a fitting honor for the singer-actress who rose to fame with “American Idol;” she solidified her diva-status with her stellar portrayal of Effie White in Dreamgirls and an outstanding debut album. Anyway, anyone tapped to perform at Michael Jackson’s memorial must be doing something right.
“We are excited that Jennifer Hudson will share her award-winning talent with our VH1 Divas audience next week. Adding Jennifer to our roster of young, yet hugely, successful performers guarantees that the show will truly be a night to remember,” said VH1 president Tom Calderone. “We can’t wait for our viewers to enjoy the performances that will reflect the talent, hard work and tenacity that has come to define this new generation of divas.”
Also slated to make appearances during next Thursday’s show are Sheryl Crow, Toni Braxton, Cyndi Lauper and Naturi Naughton. Paula Abdul will be hosting the concert airing Live September 17 at 9 p.m. EST on VH1.
