Tyler Perry will bring a play he didn’t write and produce to theaters.
 
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the entertainment mogul will adapt For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf for the big screen. The feature-length film will be released through Lionsgate.
 
The 1975 play, penned by Ntozake Shange, is framed around a series of poems tackling every issue from love to abortion from womens’ perspectives. This will be Tyler’s first movie that didn’t originate from his own work.
 
And, as always, Tyler will do it his way: He’ll be writing, producing and directing For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf under 34th Street Pictures, his new production shingle.
 
The actor-producer-director aims to start filming this November, and hopes to enlist the help of a cast of phenomenal actresses to bring life to his vision.  The movie is slated to be released sometime in 2010.
