Nike denies deal with Michael
Nike has said that Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles won’t be repping them again, despite what his agent said yesterday.
According to USA Today, Nike is denying that they ever re-signed Michael to his endorsement contract. The athletic apparel company dumped him back in 2007 when he was convicted of funding a dogfighting ring, and they snatched all of his products off store shelves shortly after.
Yesterday Michael’s agent Mike Pincipe made it seem as though both sides had patched things up when he announced that the athlete had signed a new endorsement deal with Swoosh. However, the company said that that’s not true.
"Nike does not have a contractual relationship with Michael Vick. We have agreed to supply product to Michael Vick as we do a number of athletes who are not under contract with Nike," Company rep KeJuan Wilkins said in a statement.
Unfortunately, another of Michael’s reps didn’t get the memo before he told SportsBusiness Journal that Michael was “excited to be part of the Nike team again.”
