'Precious' star eyes Showtime
Gabourey Sidibe is hoping that her next big project will be on the small screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gaby is in talks to take on a role in a Showtime original series called “The C Word.”
“The C Word” is a comedy about a suburban teacher named Cathy (played by Laura Linney) who is diagnosed with cancer. Despite the depressing diagnosis, Cathy still manages to look on the bright side of life.
Right now, the show is nothing more than a pilot, but Gabourey is hoping to play one of Cathy’s summer school students. If all goes well for “The C Word,” this could be a recurring role for the Hollywood newcomer.
The series pilot will be directed by Bill Condon, whose name you may recognize from his turn directing the film adaptation of Dreamgirls.
