NBC profiles celebrity helpers

    Thu, 11/05/2009 - 12:15 — Sonya E

The “NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams” will profile several A-listers who are offering a helping hand to their fellow man.

The newscast’s “Making a Difference” segment usually takes a look at everyday people making outstanding efforts to help others. But next week, the network will put a celebrity spin on the feature, by interviewing five stars, including Halle Berry and Alicia Keys, and examining the charities they work with.

NBC kicks off the week with a package about rock star Jon Bon Jovi on November 9. Alicia’s interview with Lester Holt will be aired on Tuesday. She works with the Keep a Child Alive foundation as a global ambassador. Lester will also be travelling to Durban, South Africa, to meet some of the people she’s helped.

Halle Berry, who works with the Jennesse Center, will be featured Thursday, November 12.  The Los Angeles-based organization helps women who have been in abusive relationships. In her interview with Natalie Morales, Halle will talk about how she raises money and develops partnerships to support the Center’s services.
