Joe Jackson seeks stipend

Despite Michael Jackson’s wishes, his father wants a piece of the late entertainer’s estate.

CNN.com reports that Joe Jackson filed court papers Friday seeking an allowance from Michael’s estate.  Joe wasn’t given anything in Michael’s 2002 will, and now he’s asking a judge to have the estate provide him with a monthly stipend too.

Under the will, as it stands, Katherine and Michael’s three children get an allowance to pay for their expenses.

The request will be brought up Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court during the next hearing on Michael’s estate. There’s no word on how much money Joe is requesting.

Howard Weitzman, a legal rep, for the Jackson estate said that Joe’s filing would be considered like any other money request. “It was quite surprising to learn of the request,” he said.
