Beyoncé shows off her ‘Video Phone’
Beyoncé is giving fans a look at what she and Lady Gaga are working with in the music video for “Video Phone.”
“Video Phone” really breaks the mold that he recent videos, like “Single Ladies” and “Ego,” had set. The black and white videography has been traded in for vivid color, and her backup dancers have been swapped out for Lady Gaga, who busts out some choreography with Bey.
This is Bey and Gaga’s first on-screen collaboration, but they both recently released songs featuring each other. For its part, Gaga’s guest spot was understated when compared with her usual flair for the outrageous. Instead of going for a bold presence, she was a team player and did the Queen B thing.
The clip was directed by Hype Williams. While keeping it fairly simple, “Video Phone” boasts his classic, video girl-heavy style with a slight feminist twist. Be clear: Sasha is still dressed up like a video model, but she’s packing an arsenal--and check out the quick nod to Quentin Tarrantino’s Reservoir Dogs.
