‘Dancing With the Stars’ recap: November 17 results
Mya has made it to the finals of “Dancing With the Stars,” and she’s one step closer to taking home the mirrorball.
Mya and her partner Dmitry really seemed to have hit their stride at the best possible time in this competition. For weeks, they were mired in the muck of judge Len Goodman’s disapproval, but they’ve won him over in the last few weeks.
Of course Mya's routines Monday night were pure perfection! She had the cleanest lines, sharpest snaps and the most graceful turns we've seen all season.
As proof of their progress, Team Dmya was brought back at the beginning of the show for an encore performance of their muy caliente, fringe-flinging Salsa. In case you missed it, check it out below. They did so well with that routine, it compelled us to download “La Isla Bonita,” ASAP!
While that performance was absolutely amazing, we were still afraid Mya might not make it through. We were a bit concerned when our first phone vote Monday night wasn’t counted—we actually got a message saying we’d reached the limit of votes allowed from a given line. Now that might not be a big deal, but since each phone number could vote five times, this was a problems. And if Mya didn’t get to the finals, we were ready to call shenanigans on ABC.
We’re happy to report, though, that Mya was the first contestant to make it to the finals! That left Donny Osmond, Kelly Osbourne and Joanna Krupa in line for elimination. A spot in the finale could really have gone to any of them because they each bring something different to the dance floor. Ultimately Joanna was cut from the competition, though.
We’d comment Alicia Keys and Leona Lewis’ performances, but there’s not much to say. Each of the ladies had a simple, stripped-down performance—complete with backup dancers—of their latest singles. Not bad, but not anything to jump and shout about, either. Oh well!
Next up is the ultimate ballroom showdown as Donny, Kelly and Mya.
