Gatorade drops Tiger
Tiger Woods has lost his first endorsement in the fallout from news of his alleged affairs.
The New York Daily News reports that Pepsico Inc. has officially dropped Tiger’s endorsement, and they’re discontinuing his Tiger Focus drink. The company insists this move has nothing to do with the golfer’s surprising sex scandal, claiming they made the decision on November 25.
The Nielsen Company reports that Tiger’s TV spots were abruptly pulled after his car accident, as no ads featuring the golfer have been aired since November 29. The last commercial featuring him that ran was a 30-second ad for Gillette.
Before this scandal erupted, Tiger was the first athlete ever to earn $1 billion.
