Nas and Kelis tried to tried to give their marriage another shot before calling thing off, but they couldn’t make it work.
 
The estranged couple was in court yesterday for a divorce hearing, and Kelis testified about their brief reconciliation back in September, TMZ.com reports. She also spoke about the hard time she's had trying to earn money lately.
 
Nas’ earnings were a key issue in the proceedings to determine whether he’d earned enough to shell out more support for Kelis and their new son, Knight Jones. His soon-to-be ex-wife told the judge that she knows he’ll be dropping two albums in 2010; when asked what she thought of the projects so far, Kelis said, “Loved it.”
 
According to the Associated Press, the judge ultimately decided that Nas’ pockets were deep enough for him to pay more support. Now, the rapper has to gve Kelis $51,101 a month. That’s a significant increase as Nas was only paying about $40,000 every month before the judge handed down his decision.
 
Despite the order for more support, Nas’ attorney still feels like his client did well since Nas no longer has to pay expenses at the Los Angeles home he once shared with Kelis.
