Nicole Richie and her beau Joel Madden have finally announced their engagement.

“Yep. i'm engaged. Very happy. Yeah we've been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same,” Joel wrote on Twitter last night.
 
Nicole and Joel, who have two kids together, have been keeping their engagement well under wraps for a while. According to E! News, the pair has been preparing to wed since 2007. No one caught wind of their wedding planning thanks in large part to their inner circle.
 
“Thats why i love my family and friends. None of them are sources. All good tight lipped people who let us enjoy it! Thanks everybody.”

 
Joel will officially announce the engagement on this Friday’s episode of “The Late Show with David Letterman.”


Congratulations to the happy couple! We wonder if Nicole’s dad Lionel Ritchie will perform.
