Naomi Campbell accused of cab attack
Naomi Campbell may not face criminal charges for an alleged assault on her driver Tuesday afternoon in Manhattan.
The Associated Press reports that the driver, hired just for the day, accused the supermodel of hitting him in the neck as she sat in the back seat of an Escalade. The blow was so hard that it knocked his head into the steering wheel of the SUV that he was operating, and he got a bruise under his right eye.
The driver pulled over and got out of the vehicle to tell a traffic agent about the incident. Police were promptly alerted about the attack, but Naomi had fled the scene by the time authorities arrived. She had been on her way to Astoria Studios in Queens, New York, at the time.
A harassment report was issued in the incident, but no arrests are expected in the case. The driver, who also works for Naomi’s boyfriend, has opted not to press criminal charges against the fashionista. It remains to be seen whether he’ll pursue a civil suit on the matter.
Although Naomi didn’t speak with police, one of her reps said that she would cooperate with police. "There shouldn't be a rush to judgment," said spokesman Jeff Raymond. "Naomi will cooperate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye."
Naomi’s temper has gotten her in hot water before. Most notably, she served a week of community service for throwing her cell phone at her maid during a dispute over a pair of jeans.
In 2008, Naomi lost her cool over missing luggage in London’s Heathrow airport. The diva pleaded guilty to kicking and spitting at airport officers. She was sentenced to 200 hours of community service in that case as well.
