T.I. will be a free man in just three weeks when he finally returns home.



According to records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the King of the South will leave lock-up on March 26. That’s when he’ll be released from the halfway house where he’s wrapping up his sentence.


 
"That date is correct," Tip’s lawyer told MTV News. "T.I. is now serving the remainder of his sentence in home confinement under the supervision of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons."
 
The rapper had served seven months of his 366-day prison sentence when he was released to an Atlanta halfway house in December 2009.  Legal experts noted that setting such a specific prison term meant there was a possibility that T.I. could get out early, and his March 26 release puts him exactly 61 days shy of serving his full sentence.


 
Once T.I. returns home, he’ll have to serve another 20 to 60 days of house arrest under the terms of a plea deal he copped. He’ll also have to complete 500 more hours of community service, rounding out the 1,500 hours he was sentenced to. And he’ll have to be subject to drug counseling and financial audits. 


 
In the meantime, Tip will be releasing his new single, aptly titled “I’m Back,” next week.
