Paula Abdul in talks with ABC

Paula Abdul will soon be back in familiar territory as she headlines a “Star Search” update.

According to
EW.com, the former “American Idol” judge is wrapping up a deal with ABC to star in a remake of the televised talent competition. Details of her role on the show are still being hammered out, but she could possibly host and judge the show, slated to premiere this summer.

Paula has been linked to ABC since last year when she announced her decision to resign as judge of Fox’s “American Idol.” For a time, there was speculation that she might join “Dancing With the Stars,” but that didn’t pan out.

There’s no word on whether this new gig would interfere with her possible plans to join the judge’s panel on the U.S. version of Simon Cowell’s “X Factor,” tentatively set to debut on Fox later next year.
