Wyclef gets honorary doctorate
One Connecticut university has awarded Wyclef Jean one of its highest honors for his philanthropy.
HipHopWired.com reports that Western Connecticut State University gave the Haitian rapper-turned-activist an honorary doctorate degree at its commencement ceremony on Sunday.
“When I came to America, I didn't speak a word of English,” Wyclef told WCSU graduates during his speech. “Today I am able to travel the world, reach people with my music, work on behalf of my native Haiti and even speak at a college commencement. I am proof that anything you want is possible, if you can only envision it first.”
The university also threw in a generous graduation present: Wyclef received a $9,500 donation for his Yele Haiti foundation from the school.
We suspect that Clef may have gotten the doctorate in family planning since he’s advising Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the next addition to their ever-expanding family.
According to Usmagazine.com, Wyclef urged, "Brad and Angie, please! Please adopt a child from Haiti!"
