Oprah tops Forbes’ Celeb list
Oprah Winfrey is leading the pack of Black stars that are dominating that top of the Forbes Celebrity 100 list.
This year, Black celebs take up three of the top 5 slots on the list, and we’re not surprised to see Oprah at #1. The media mogul, who is ending her talk show after the upcoming season, banked about $315 million this year! An endorsement from O is like a golden ticket with the American TV audience; after all, she helped to launch shows for Dr. Phil, Rachel Ray and Dr. Oz!
Last year, she was second banana on the list, but we think the fact that she’ll be debuting the Oprah Winfrey Network may have nudged her into the top spot for 2010.
Beyoncé settled into the #2 spot for this year’s list, grossing $87 million. Although that’s not Oprah money, it’s still a respectable living. With a world tour, new fragrance line, and Deréon bedding on the way, Bey has worked hard to advance two spots since 2009! And we know she had to get a little something for letting Liza Minelli perform “Single Ladies” in Sex and the City 2.
This fiscal year seems to be getting off to a good start for the diva, who has been pegged for a role in a film adaptation of Giligan’s Island, according to IMDB. By the way, her hubby Jay-Z landed at #15 on the Forbes Celebrity 100.
James Cameron and Lady Gaga claimed the third and fourth spots, respectively, on the Forbes list. But rounding out the top 5 is embattled golfer, Tiger Woods, who occupied the same slot on last year’s list.
Not even a messy sex scandal with a seemingly endless list of mistresses was enough to break Tiger!
Despite losing some lucrative endorsement deals with companies like Pepsi and AT&T, he was still the highest paid athlete after earning $105 million. We’re sure his relationship with Nike and Electronic Arts helped quite a bit there.
