It's finally happened: Retailer J. Crew, First Lady Michelle Obama and Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede have all converged.

J. Crew, the preppy outpost previously known for moderately-priced cashmere cardigans and work-appropriate slacks, recently named Liya as the first "exclusive face" of their catalog.

We're not entirely sure what that means, but we do know that Liya will be modeling the company's wares and offering a sampling of her 2-year old children's collection, Lemlem, reports Fashion Week Daily.

Lemlem (it means "bloom" in Amharic, an Ethiopian tongue) features hand-knitted pieces that will now be part of the company's Crewcuts children's line. That line rose to prominence after first daughters Malia and Sasha donned coats from the collection for President Obama's swearing-in ceremony.

Mommy Obama has also been a fan of the store. She famously sported a yellow cardigan on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and then again with the family on the campaign trail.

Could the Obama connection have anything to do with the sudden browning of this retailer?
