Jennifer Hudson returns to 'American Idol' for one night only

Jennifer Hudson is returning to the show that launched her career.

Jennifer will shoot a performance for Fox’s “American Idol” tonight after the live broadcast, the Associated Press reports.

A source close to the show said the segment will air later on, but they didn’t say when it might hit the airwaves. They didn’t offer up any clues as to what she might be singing for the crowd either.

J. Hud could always sing one of the songs off of her self-titled debut album, which won her a Grammy. Maybe she could do a number from Dreamgirls—you know, that movie she won an Oscar for.

Although we would have loved to see her perform live on air, but we’re glad to see her back on the “American Idol” stage. We wonder what Simon Cowell will have to say.
