No Black girls allowed for Cîroc casting
Earlier this week, a Cîroc Vodka casting call hit the Internet and made quite a splash.
The e-blast from Imperative Talent Management called for women at least 5’6” tall, who wear a size 7. There was also another very important requirement: don’t be darker than a paper bag.
The e-mail specified that Cîroc was looking for White, Hispanic and light-skinned Black women.
Cîroc has received a lot of heat for the casting call, which they deny setting up, or even having any knowledge of.
“Cîroc Vodka has nothing whatsoever to do with this inappropriate and offensive casting call, which was done without the brand’s knowledge or consent,” the company said in a statement. “We are currently investigating how this occurred. Cîroc Vodka has created a brand that defines sophisticated celebration for all consumers, and in no way condones this practice.”
Diddy also denied having any part of the casting on his Twitter blog. “For the record, people: I LOVE WOMEN OF ALL SHADES!!! I DON’T DISCRIMINATE!!! DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE,” he tweeted Thursday afternoon.
He also said he loves girls of all shapes and sizes, so maybe there will be some big girls in the next TV spot for Cîroc.
With both Diddy and Cîroc denying that they set up this casting call, we have to wonder who really put it out.
