Two people in Utah are facing charges of child sex trafficking and pornography.

DeWayne Eugene Hopkins, 27, and 19-year old Julia Young of South Salt Lake Utah, have been indicted for allegedly recruiting girls to work as prostitutes. The pair is also accused of selling pictures of the victims on the Internet.

"Ads were being placed on visual and routine lists such as Craigslist for massages and types of services,” U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman told Utah's ABC 4. “In reality what was happening the massage would often include with it some form of sexual gratification.”

Police claim that DeWayne was the pimp and Julia was his recruiter, and that they ran the whole operation out of their apartment. Court documents state that they took the girls to a Best Western Motel in Midvale, Utah where the girls allegedly had sex with men and took pictures of their encounters.

DeWayne and Julia were reportedly charged with prostitution and sex exploitation last year.  One 17-year old victim said that a friend told her it was chance to make some money, and later set up a meeting with Julia.

“We were talking and she told me that she gets pretty good money for it, and that it would be a good chance for me to get money,” the girl said during a preliminary hearing. “She [Julia] said she would give us a call the next day and see if we would be able to start up.”

The victim testified she once lived in Utah, but that she was actually from Nevada.

Cops want this case to serve as an example of how these types of crimes do happen in the United States and involve American children.

The U.S. Attorney’s office said DeWayne and Julia’s case will be prosecuted in federal court.
