Chris Brown: 'not guilty, your honor'
Chris Brown said he didn’t hit Rihanna.
E! Online reports that Chris pleaded not guilty to felony charges of assault and making criminal threats at his arraignment on Monday, April 6.
Those charges come as the result of his alleged fight with ex-girlfriend Rihanna on February 8, which left her with some serious injuries.
When asked how he wanted to plead to the felony charges, Chris quietly answered "not guilty, your honor."
His legal team, lead by attorney Mark Geragos, has feverishly been trying to work out a plea deal that would let Chris avoid jail time. If convicted on the charges against him, Chris faces up to four years and eight months in prison.
The next hearing in the case is set for April 29.
Rihanna’s daddy, Ronald Fenty, thinks the plea is a load of crap, and told Usmagazine.com that Chris “needs to stop being in denial.”
"I think he’s a talented guy, but everybody should have to pay,” Ronald Fenty, Rihanna’s Dad, told Usmagazine.com. “When you do the crime, you do the time. I don't want to see him locked up for a long time -- I just want him to acknowledge and get some help."
Now that Chris said he’s not guilty, Ronald wants to know who beat up his baby. "Who did it -- that’s the question now," he said. "If he’s not guilty, who did it? He should say 'guilty' and let the court be leaning into him and try himself to the mercy of the court, see if he gets a fine."
