Jill Scott delivers baby boy
Who is Jill Scott? She’s somebody’s mama now!
Jill and her fiancé, drummer Lil John Roberts, just delivered their baby on Monday, April 20, People reports.
Their son, Jett Hamilton Roberts, came into the world at 4:20 p.m. weighing 7 lbs. 8 oz. He is the first child for Jill and for John.
Jill learned that she was pregnant while prepping for her role in HBO’s “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.” She plays Precious Ramotswe, the lead character.
"At one point I was trying to gain weight for the role, and I noticed I had put on 7 lbs. in 7 days. And I thought, ‘My god! What's going on here,’" she told People. "I thought something was wrong with me, and I found out I was pregnant the day I was supposed to leave for Africa."
The new mommy confessed that spending the first trimester in Botswana was really tough for her, but she kept filming.
"That was one of the biggest challenges of my life. … You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour day,” she said. "My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can do this, so I did it."
Jill and John hooked up in January 2007, and they announced their engagement back in January. Now the “Golden” singer sees Jett as a true blessing.
"I definitely had issues over the course of my life, reproduction issues," Jill said. "I was married for five years and could never conceive a child. Until now ... It's the most amazing thing that's ever happened to me."
