S2S goes to the movies: the sequel
Fri, 05/08/2009 - 16:06 — Anonymous
The summer movie season has become, and you have a wide range of cinematic distractions to choose from. What movie you shell out $20 (including snacks, of course!) for might depend your mood.
Mood: Adventurous
Movie: Star Trek
Even if you aren’t a trekkie, you’ll still want to see the Star Trek. It stars an amazing cast of young Hollywood stand-outs like Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Zachary Quinto.
Star Trek is another summer blockbuster in the prequel tradition. It follows the lives of Captain James T. Kirk (played by Chris Pine) and his crew—including Uhura (Zoe)—during their days at Star Fleet Academy. Although we don’t think we’ll be seeing much of the retro uniforms from the original series, this movie still has tons of style and a compelling storyline.
According to Variety, this Star Trek is shaping up to be light years ahead of its box office competition this weekend: it’s reportedly drawn in $7 million so far.
Mood: Silly
Movie: Next Day Air
With a cast featuring Mos Def, Mike Epps and Donald Faison, you know you’re in for some serious silliness when you see Next Day Air.
In Next Day Air, two deliverymen become unwitting drug mules when they bring a box of cocaine to an apartment building. The drop-off goes from bad to worse when they end up delivering the drugs to the wrong tenants, who also happen to be criminals who plan to flip the drugs. But what happens when the intended recipients try to get their stuff?
