Oprah tops the list of 'Wealthiest Black Americans'
The Queen of Media is the wealthiest Black person in America, followed by Tiger Woods, BET Founder Bob Johnson and Michael Jordan, according to Forbes magazine's The Wealthiest Black Americans list.
She may be one of only three women on the list, but Oprah represents for the ladies with $2.7 billion in the bank, all from Harpo Productions. The 55-year old mogul produces her own show, plus helped to create ones for Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray.
Sports figures also shined on this list: Legends Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan were neck and neck with $600 million and $525 million respectively. Tiger earned his as a 66-time PGA Tournament winner, while Michael got rich being an NBA favorite and managing a lucrative Nike franchise. Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant also made the list.
The Johnsons were out in full effect, with both BET Founder Robert "Bob" Johnson and NBA legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson landing in the top 20. Bob made his millions creating the most successful Black television network, while Magic leveraged his NBA fame to catapult Magic Johnson Enterprises into the stratosphere. They rank #3 and #5, respectively.
Bill Cosby, Sheila Johnson (Bob's ex-wife), Berry Gordy, Jr., Don King, Jay-Z, American Express CEO Kenneth Chenault and various real estate moguls round out the list.
