Jamie Foxx to host BET Awards
Wed, 05/13/2009 - 12:28 — Anonymous
Jamie announced on BET’s “106th and Park” that he will be hosting the 2009 BET Awards on June 28.
“No one is safe,” Jamie exclaimed, promising to run his mouth about all the hot topics at the awards. He’ll have a lot to talk about since the Shrine Auditorium will be packed with Black star power for the show.
Beyoncé and T.I. are the lead nominees with five nods each, but they’re up against some tough competition; and they’ll be competing against each other for Video of the Year.
Bey has better odds in that category since the clips for “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” have both been nominated for the award. T.I.’s video for “Live Your Life” earned him a bid for it, too.
Keri Hilson is up for four awards including Best New Artist and Best Female R&B Artist; she’ll be squaring off against Queen B, Keyshia Cole, Jennifer Hudson and Jazmine Sullivan.
Keri’s “Turnin Me On” has also been nominated for Best New Collaboration for her work with Lil Wayne.
Speaking of Lil Wayne, he’s up for three more awards, too. He’s going up against Rick Ross, T.I., Kanye West and Young Jeezy in the best Male Hip-Hop Artist category.
Maxwell and Ne-Yo are slated to perform at this year’s ceremony. Other acts will be named later, and we’re sure they’ll all be amazing.
