What's eating Barack Obama?

    Fri, 01/09/2009 - 16:09 — whitney

Prez-Elect Obama's pretty busy creating bills and doing fancy political stuff, but folks from all corners of the world are more concerned with what he's doing at the dinner table.

Ben & Jerry's, the liberal ice cream store that not-so-jokingly endorsed Obama during the Vermont primaries, has re-named it's popular Butter Pecan flavor to "Yes, Pecan" for the month of January in honor of his inauguration. We wonder if B&J just thought it sounded cute, or if it's really B.O.'s favorite flavor?

Either way, everytime you reach for a cone of the Yes, Pecan flavor, the store donates the proceeds to Common Cause, a "nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy organization founded as a vehicle for citizens to make their voices heard in the political process." Whew, that's a mouthful.

While Ben & Jerry's are using him to peddle ice cream, two young organic food enthusiasts only want the next Commander-in-Chief to consider growing a farm on the White House's South Lawn, according to the Washington Post.

Daniel Bowman Simon and Casey Gustowarow left their jobs to travel around the country (in a tricked out school bus built, ironically, by Ben & Jerry's founder Ben Cohen) and collect signatures, all in hopes of adding a little green to Obama's backyard. Visit The White House Organic Farm Project.
