Lunar eclipse for Michael?
Michael Jackson is planning to eclipse his signature move, The Moonwalk.
Mijac has been hard at work rehearsing for his 50-show run at London’s O2 Arena, and he’s got some big things planned. A concert rep told the Los Angeles Times that, "It's going to be the biggest, most technologically advanced arena show—and the most expensive—ever mounted."
Michael has been practicing with Kenny Ortega (the director of High School Musical and its sequels) and a team of choreographers at a warehouse near the airport in Burbank, California.
Kenny’s worked with the icon before on his HIStory and Dangerous tours, so he leaped at the chance to team up with MJ again.
"My answer without a beat was nothing could keep me away," he said in a statement. Kenny was so eager to help develop the top-secret dance move that he’s working around the production for a remake of Footloose.
Whether the fans in London will ever get to see this new move is still up in the air. According to TMZ.com, the shows have come under legal dispute because they may be breaking a previous contract with AllGood Entertainment.
Frank Dileo, Michael’s manager, signed a deal late last year promising that the singer would appear on a family tour with his brothers and Janet Jackson.
Under the agreement, Michael was not allowed to make another concert deal for 18 months. Lawyers for the family tour claim the London concerts violate that blackout clause, but the King of Pop said he never signed the contract in question.
In the meantime, AllGood Entertainment has now sent a cease and desist letter to concert organizers in London demanding that they put a stop to the concert series.
For now, the shows at O2 will kick off on July 8.
