Kim K., D. Woods' bright, bold eyes

Rihanna on the red carpet with her eyes lined in bright, aquatic blue, Kim Kardashian caught with an electric shade of dark pink and D. Woods on the set of her new video, "Legalize Me," all sported similar looks involving striking, colorful shades.

The cool thing about each of their eye shadows is that they were used to line the lids, not smeared from lash to 'brow. Using that technique, virtually any shade is wearable, and not likely to shock your friends and family. To get their looks, you'll only need a dark eye pencil, a bright eye color and black mascara.

Begin by lining your lower lid with the eye pencil. For a bold, coal-like look, use liquid eyeliner. If you have smaller eyes, don't line your top lid; this will only make your eyes appear smaller. Wide, large eyes (like Kim's set of peepers) can take a thick stroke of liner on the top lid. Any of these shades would be great:

MAC eye shadow in Passionate
($14.50)

Jane eye shadow in Jewel tones ($4.99)

Stila eye shadow duo in Seafoam
($22)

Covergirl eye enhancers in Firecracker ($5.19)

Nars single eye shadow in Tropic ($22)

Get your eyecolor and use the applicator to create a thin line around your eye. For an even bolder look, skip the eyeliner all together and use your shadow as a thick, colorful liner, the way that Rihanna did.

Finish off with a couple of coats of heavy-duty mascara.

And that's it! Look-at-me eye color in no time flat.
