‘Top Model’ judge was cut over budget

Tyra Banks is breaking down the real reason that producers cut one judge from “America’s Next Top Model.”

Tyra and fellow executive producer Ken Mok issued a statement saying that former judge Paulina Porizkova was fired because there just wasn’t enough money to keep her around.

"The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide," they said. "We've had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts."

That seems to be in line with what Paulina told “The Late Show” host Craig Ferguson last week. “They needed to cut some fat, and the fat was me," she related.

Of course, Paulina also hinted at the fact that she thinks the decision to fire her wasn’t entirely financial. The model claimed the producers told her that another reason she was fired was because of her ego. But according to Tyra and Co., that’s not true.

"Tyra, who pursued Paulina to join the show as a judge multiple times, was incredibly saddened by the decision the show was forced to make,” “Top Model” executive producers stated. “We really enjoyed working with Paulina, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors."

So far, there’s no word on whether Paulina will be replaced.
