Natalie Cole gets new kidney

Natalie Cole is recovering after a successful kidney transplant.

Natalie underwent the surgery on May 20 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; her rep told
E! News that she’s now “resting comfortably.”

The singer’s new kidney came from a deceased organ donor through a donor network called One Legacy.

In light of her recovery, Natalie may have to put off or even cancel some shows she’d scheduled this summer. "Ms. Cole's physicians have advised her to postpone her summer tour dates as she recuperates for the next three to four months," publicist Maureen O’Conner said.

The Grammy-winning vocalist had been getting dialysis three times a week for her condition since last fall. Each session would take about three hours. She started receiving dialysis after both her kidneys failed because of set back in her chemotherapy.  She’d been doing chemo to treat hepatitis C.
