Obama's Washington is the fittest city in America
Barack Obama has something else to smile about: His newly adopted home of Washington, D.C. has landed at the top of the American College of Sports Medicine's second American Fitness Index (AFI).
The College looked at cities all over the country and conducted personal surveys with residents to determine the list. The Index dug up data on what percentage of citizens were overweight, or smokers, as well as their exercise habits and how many servings of fruits and vegetables they ate. Healthy city locales were also factored in, like how many parks, farmers markets and healthcare providers each city offered.
The crime rate was also taken into consideration. With the president and first lady's commitment to daily exercise and locally grown produce, we won't be at all surprised if Chocolate City takes the top spot next year as well.
Next to D.C., Minneapolis-St. Paul came in second, with Denver, Boston and San Francisco all claiming top five spots. Barack's former city, Chicago, was way down at #25, Atlanta took #15, Los Angeles and Miami were neck and neck at #30 and #31 and New York was #22.
