Look, man they are artists who express themselves how they want. If someone really has a problem with the artists so-called "image", that sometimes they don't even create the company creates it...If you have a major issue, hit them financially and boycott their work.  My kids dad and I are the best role models our kids will have, then the extended family/circle of friends, then also the media...Our kids will eventually decide on their own, who and what they will choose to become. It is up to us, to just instill in them their own greatness, and gifts, and show them that over and over again.  They will eventually decide on their own.   Oh, but regardless of it they want the title/responsibility of it, they will always be considered role models by many...Just how it goes!

Personally, I do not feel that any artist, athlete or celebrity should be looked upon as a role model. There are very few who exhibit the positive traits that we want our children to adopt. What is ironic about Rihanna is that she has said in numerous interviews that she would like to be seen as an inspiration and a role model to young girls.  Then in other interviews, she states that the edginess that she currently portrays on stage and in her music is the real Rihanna.  Unfortunately, how she has been carrying herself recently is not being a good role model.  What she is doing on stage and in public as an "inspiration" and role model is showing our young girls that it is okay to be raunchy; that it is okay to drink to intoxication, smoke weed in public, grind on people in public.  Even her music is in a dark place with lyrics about shooting people, S&M, etc.  She's only 23.  Is this really how she sees life?  She's acting no different than those girls in those "Girls Gone Wild" videos that everyone used to look down upon.Be reckless...Be careless.  But don't tell my young daughters that you want them to look up to you in one moment and then in another moment go out in public and act like your clueless.

Since when will we grow up and stop trying to make ENTERTAINERS role models. Rhianna nor any other entertainer, athlete, actress, or tv personality was my role model growing up. It was my mother, aunts, grandmother and the successful women who I grew up around who were and are my role models and we need to teach or kids this same thing in 2011.With that being said, there is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with her attire at CARNIVAL anyone who is "critical" has obviously never been to a real CARNIVAL or has never seen photos from one. I have a really good friend with a masters and is the most elegantly dressed professional and every February when she goes home to Trinidad for CARNIVAL this is the entire that everyone wears and the same goes for Brazil, and the Barbados where Rhianna is from. She is entitled to go home and participate in her upbringing without having to apologize or change who she is because others have a bug up their butts and think it's her and every other "celebrities" job to raise and give morals to there children.sorry, I'm off my soapbox now.
