My name is Shawntel Walton. I am 28 years old living in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I just started a non for profit youth organization called Dream Chasers. I am so excited to be able to give back to my community. I decided to do this because in Milwaukee alone there is a 50% drop out rate and that is just unacceptable. So instead of just being one of those people talking about it, I chose to help.
Dream Chasers works with youth ranging from 10 years of age to 18. Our services include Behavior modification, mentoring, college readiness and act/sat preparation. We are community advocats. We also give our students incentives for staying in school on being on their stuff. I believe it is our responsibility to make sure that our children have the guidance and leadership they need to be successful in this world.
I am starting from nothing. I have a team of ten intelligent individuals who are ready and committed to making sure we get our teens where they need to be.
