Aaliyah biopic goes big time

First Biggie, now Aaliyah!

Dreamgirls director Bill Condon has been attached to a movie about Aaliyah’s life, according to singersroom.com. That means the biopic, which was originally rumored to be a small-budget film, has become a major project.

Unknown singer Keisha Chante has been signed to play the young R&B star who died in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001. Because Bill wants the film to be perfect, he has Keisha doing her research.  “We have (Keisha) in extensive training, studying, speaking with family members, watching personal footage, and in choreography training with Aaliyah's choreographer and dear friend Fatima Robinson." he said.

Bill is keeping the casting true to life by having Fatima, Timbaland, Missy Elliot and Ginuwine play themselves in the still untitled movie.
