The Clipse are teaming up with legendary producer Rick Rubin for the forthcoming album, Til the Casket Drops.
 
So far, the Clipse have already laid down one track with Rick at a studio in Malibu, California and they plan to record at least one more in the coming weeks, EW.com reports.
 
Rick is an old friend of the rappers; he signed them to Columbia Records back in 2007, shortly after he became the label’s co-chairman.
 
This collaboration could mean a new sound for The Clipse, whose previous albums were almost entirely produced by the Neptunes. Lucky for them, hip-hop is familiar territory for Rick (even if he has been sticking to rock and pop bands recently). He co-founded Def Jam Records with Russell Simmons, working with acts LL Cool J and Run-DMC. He also produced Jay-Z’s “99 Problems.”
 
Rick isn’t the only big name The Clipse are working with for Til the Casket Drops, which the lyricists hope to release later this summer. The first sinlge, “Kinda Like a Big Deal,” is produced by DJ Khalil and features Kanye West. It drops on March 9.
