Desiree Rogers does Fashion Week

While we're still not quite sure what a "social secretary" does, we can deduce that one responsibility includes scouting out designers for the ladies of the White House.

Desiree Rogers, President Obama's social secretary, is in New York as we speak, seeing the sights at the Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear shows.

We've spotted her at three events already, including shows for Donna Karen, Carolina Herrera (whom she wore to an inaugural ball last month) and Thakoon, where she sat next to Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.

The shows are also proving to be quite a reunion for the Chicago native, as she no doubt met Anna either while Michelle Obama shot for the magazine or when Desiree was featured in their February issue.

The Chicago Tribune also reports that Desiree connected with Ikram Goldman, owner of the Chi-town boutique that intermediates fabulous designs for the first lady.

With three more days of shows to go, including traditional brands that are surely White House-approved like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, we can't wait to see where else Desiree pops up.
