Pepsi's getting a little sugar in its tank
Pepsi's saying "buh-bye" to the sugar substitute they normally use, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), in favor of the real thing. Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback, starring old-school sugar, will be available at the same price as the originals from April 20 to June 20.
ThePepsiCo company (along with Coca-Cola) actually does this each year with their non-HFCS Kosher line in observance of Passover. International markets have also been treated with the sugar versions of American cola, according to the beverage industry website bevreview.com. Pepsi Raw in the UK, Pepsi Retro in Mexico and Mexican Coke all contain sugar instead of HFCS. Many cola enthusiasts prefer sugar, either for the taste or for perceived health reasons.
