Tyra's looking for some shorties
Tyra Banks is keeping it short and sweet for Cycle 13 of “America’s Next Top Model” by casting smaller models.
Even though Cycle 12 of ANTM has yet to premiere, Ty Ty and company are already prepping to audition the next round of hopefuls. This time, they’re looking for models who are 5’ 7” or shorter; typically, the show made 5’7” the minimum height requirement.
“There have been top supermodels in the past that weren’t as tall as the industry demands, like fashion icon Kate Moss,” Tyra said in a press release. “So we are changing up ‘Top Model’ for cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model!”
Women of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to try out since Tyra is looking for a variety or models next cycle. Models must be between 18 and 27 years old to apply.
The full application is available on the CW’s website, but the network makes it very clear that producers have the producers can make case-by-case exceptions to the rules.
Casting for Cycle 13 begins February 28 in Miami, so mini mamis have a few more days to get their runway strut together. Open calls will also be held in New York, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. Check the official site to see a complete list of audition locations.
Tiny girls have typically had a tough time on past seasons of “America’s Next Top Model.” So far, Eva Marcelle has been the shortest (and arguably most well-know) winner of the competition at 5’6”.
The show will film sometime between April and June of this year, but there’s no word on where the season will be shot.
In the meantime, you can catch Cycle 12 when it premieres March 4 at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
