Terrell Owens signs with Buffalo Bills
Updated: Monday, March 9 11:53 a.m.
Terrell Owens, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, is now the Buffalo Bills' newest wide receiver, according to ESPN. He signed a one year, $6.5 million dollar deal last Saturday, March 7.
On Friday, March 6 Wide Receiver Terrell Owens confirmed that he'd been given the pink slip by the Dallas Cowboys, according to Bloomberg.
T.O., who had been with the team for three seasons, announced the split to fellow former Cowboy Michael Irvin via text message. Michael then broke the news on his Dallas-based radio program, Michael Irvin Show. He said that he was "a bit surprised, but not shocked."
The Cowboys' receiver Sam Hurd corroborated the statement, telling reporters that he too had received a text from Terrell with the bad news.
Terrell was nine months into a $34 million extension with the boys in blue, a deal that included a $12.9 million signing bonus.
Terrell has always been something of a double-edged sword for the League. He is a talented player, ranking second in the NFL and trails the legendary Jerry Rice with 139 touchdown catches (Jerry made it to 180 during his career).
He is also a bit of a bad boy and has received numerous team citations, including a ban from the Philadelphia Eagles and a suspension from the San Francisco 49ers for touchdown dancing on rival Dallas' star (this was before he became a Cowboy, of course). He also bumped heads with the management in Dallas.
