Toni Braxton opened up about a life-threatening illness she’s been battling for years.
 
E! News reports that the “Make My Heart” singer revealed that she has lupus during the 8th Annual Bag Ladies Luncheon yesterday. The event is a fundraiser for lupus research and awareness.


 
“Take a look, this is what lupus looks like,” she announced while accepting a Women in Achievement award. Toni didn’t reveal how long she’s been battling the autoimmune disease, which can be fatal.  


 
Revealing her battle with lupus, was not something Toni took lightly. “A big moment for me,” the singer wrote on Twitter. “It was a tough decision to come out about this. But it was such a relief.”


 
While it was a shock to most, at least one other star knew about Toni’s decision to share news of her condition prior to Tuesday’s luncheon.
 
Lady Gaga took out an ad in the event’s program, stating, "Toni, your strength is admirable. As a woman whose family has been affected by lupus, I understand your struggle and have you in my thoughts. —Gaga."

 
This is just the most recent health problem that Toni has gone public with. Fans know that she’s got a serious heart condition called pericarditis that has affected her ability to perform over the years.
