Regina King is ready to kick off 2011 with a new season of “Southland” on TNT.
When the new season of Regina’s cop drama premieres January 4 at 10 p.m., things will be a little different.
For starters, Regina dished about an unexpected addition to the cast. “[Lydia] has a new partner—it’s a woman,” the actress revealed. “She’s never partnered with a woman before and that dynamic is a do-si-do.”
We’ll take that to mean the ladies really go back and forth on certain things. We’ll wait to see how that plays out while Regina’s character also deals with a new situation on the home front.
“Her mother is back from Paris…with a boyfriend,” Regina said with a laugh. “Lydia still doesn’t have one, so that’s something she’s dealing with right now.”
From what we hear, Lydia tries really hard to put on a positive face for mama, but you can totally tell that her single status is getting to her. Meanwhile, we wonder what her mom’s new man looks like!
To find out, tune in to “Southland” every Tuesday at 10 p.m. on TNT.
