S2S Goes to the Movies: 'Big Momma 3'

Comedy legend Martin Lawrence is back with his third installment of the popular Big Momma's House franchise.
In Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, FBI agent Malcolm Turner's (Martin Lawrence) stepson Trent (Brandon T. Jackson) is now an aspiring rapper is all grown up. You may remember Trent from the previous two films as a little boy, who was the son of Malcolm's love interest Sherry.
After a now-teenage Trent witnesses a murder, both he and Malcolm go undercover at an all-girl performing arts school. Trent disguises himself as a female student named Charmaine and Malcolm is back as the ever so crass Big Momma. While undercover, the two search and try to recover evidence that will solve the crime.
Since his supporting role a few years ago opposite in the box office juggernaut Tropic Thunder, Brandon has been on a steady rise and has become one to watch in Hollywood. He holds his own in Big Mommas opposite his idol Martin Lawrence.
If you're a Black comedian, it almost feels like Hollywood is anointing you to be next in a long line of comedy greats once they ask you to dress up like a woman on camera. Almost every famous comedian from Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, Dave Chappelle, Martin, just to name a few, have done it and went on to have phenomenal careers. Brandon maybe next.
Overall, the film has its funny moments and is poised to open big this weekend like its predecessors. We recommend the film, but hopefully this is the last movie in this series for Martin. For someone who is, by all merits, a comic legend, he has almost worn out his welcome with the Big Mommas House franchise.
