CNN looks at Rodney King 20 years later

Rodney King’s 1991 on-camera beating at the hands of four Los Angeles police officers shook the country and sparked racial unrest that would later set the city on fire.

In the CNN special “Race and Rage: The Beating of Rodney King,” anchor Don Lemon examines how things have changed among area Blacks, the LAPD and the Korean merchants who defended themselves during the six days of looting and riots that left 55 dead, 2,000 injured and more than $1 billion in property damage.

Don talks to Rodney, the defense and prosecuting attorneys, juror Cynthia Kelley and even Bobby Green, the man who rescued unwitting trucker Reginald Denny after he was pulled from his vehicle and attacked during the riots.

“Race and Rage” debuts Friday, March 4 at 8 p.m. on CNN.
